There are few things I love to do more than spend hours at a time doing an elaborate makeup look on myself... but having that much time for makeup alone is not a luxury I have most days, especially when I'm working and have Zoom calls to make. Even though I've been working from home for over a month, workdays feel busier than ever, and most of the time I can't even be bothered to put on makeup at all. When I do need to spruce myself up for a meeting, I stick to products that help me cut down as much time and effort as possible. And CoverGirl's Clean Fresh Cream Blush is one of my MVP multi-taskers right now.

At a price that's about the same as the stray cash sitting in my wallet, this gel-like formula does almost all of the work for me. Before putting it on, I even out my skin tone with an easy-to-use CC cream and a dark, tinted eyebrow gel before squirting a few pea-sized dollops of Clean Fresh Cream Blush on the back of my hand. With a stippling or buffing brush, I dip into one of those dots and dab it on the apples of my cheeks, blending it outwards toward my ears.

Then, I rub an index finger into the blush that's still on the back of my hand and swipe it all over my eyelids, using a blending brush to create a cat-eye shape that extends outwards if I'm feeling fancy. After that, I apply the remaining blush on my hand to my lips with a small, dense blending brush for even coverage and a natural-looking lip line. I top my look off with a little mascara and maybe some highlighter — the whole thing takes me about five minutes if I work quickly.

This formula comes in four shades that cover most of your blush needs — soft pink, vibrant coral, shimmery mauve, and muted violet — but my favorite has to be the shade Butterfly. It's deep enough to stand out but doesn't overwhelm my very fair and rosy skin tone. Plus, it has just the right amount of shimmer to make it look dewy; that's a hard quality to find in blushes. No matter what shade you choose, though, you'll be able to build it out from sheer and subtle until it's almost opaque — just apply it in layers and give each one a few seconds to dry down.

Long story short: Our current reality has required us all to cut corners in plenty of ways — why not use makeup that lets us do the same?

Clean Fresh Cream Blush, $11, is available online from Ulta and drugstores where CoverGirl is sold.
