It Only Took Me One Use to Fall in Love With Dr. Pawpaw's Tinted Multipurpose Balm

Here's why I consider this glossy, pigmented balm a work-from-home necessity.

In a virtual meeting this week, someone said something to me that I haven't heard in a really long time: "Wow, you look so nice." Since the Allure staff starting self-isolating, putting on makeup for work has become somewhat of a rarity for me. On the occasion that I do get a little dolled up for a meeting, I fall back on multi-use products that help me get the job done in a few short minutes — partly because I'm still really busy, but mostly because I'm lazy. I didn't think my quick and easy makeup look could garner such compliments, but I guess that's the magic of Dr. Pawpaw's Tinted Multipurpose Soothing Balm, my latest go-to product for meeting makeup I can get done fast.

Like me, you will probably only need to try this multi-use balm once to fall in love with it. It comes in five different shades that work on a plethora of skin tones (and an un-tinted version if you're just looking for a good plain lip balm). Each shade has a jelly-like texture and a sheer color payoff that you can build up to your desired level of coverage — my favorite by far is the tinted shade Ultimate Red.

Once I slap on a little CC cream, brow gel, and mascara, Dr. Pawpaw basically does the rest of the work for me. With a lip brush, I slather the balm on my lips — with just one layer, it has a really sheer color payoff, but I like to build it up until the bright red pigment really stands out. Because it's a balm and not a gloss, I still get the shiny effect that I love without the stickiness I loathe.

Then I apply a tiny (like, really tiny) bit of balm to my fingers and tap it onto the apples of my cheeks. Thanks to that glossy-but-not-sticky formula, it gives me a flush and glass-skin glow all at once, so I don't even need to bother applying highlighter.

Over time, this formula sinks in to leave plump, hydrated skin and lips in its wake, thanks to hydrating and soothing ingredients like aloe vera and camellia oil. This all comes in a shocking affordable package at just $8 per tube, so if you're in the market for a new and affordable staple product, you've found one right here.

Dr. Pawpaw Tinted Multipurpose Soothing Balm, $8, is available now from Ulta.
