The majority of the country may be in the midst of a frigid winter, but with sun protection, temperatures don't matter. That's why Sol de Janeiro, the Brazilian skin-care brand most famous for its fan-favorite Bum Bum creams, chose February to break into the world of SPF with the launch of two totally new products, the Sol de Janeiro My Sol Stick and Bum Bum Sol Oil.
"In Brazil, we literally live in the sun and on the beach, and we love it, but obviously we have to be smart about this lifestyle," says Camila Pierotti, the founding partner and lead of product innovation at Sol de Janeiro. "[So] our goal was to bring sun protection to the next level and create SPF products you actually love to wear on and off the beach,"
To execute this, Pierotti and her team explored multiple avenues and different textures, ultimately deciding to launch with a stick and an oil first. For the latter SPF, the Sol de Janeiro team loved the idea of an ultra-moisturizing product that not only protects against the sun's harmful UVB and UVA rays, but that feels incredible, too. "This is not your typical SPF experience," Pierotti says via email. "Our products feel luxurious, nourish the skin, and have an irresistible scent."
